Roberson Kingwood Open Champion!
Final Nine Net 37 Wins USGA Tiebreaker Over Michael Willeford!

04/17/11 - 12:00 NOON

Former Philadelphia Eagles place kicker Robbie Roberson (11 Hcp) from Trinity, TX and Michael Willeford (6 Hcp) from Kingwood, TX ended the day with identical scores of Net 71 at the recently completed ASGTour Kingwood Open Championship.

Both players finished four strokes clear of the field and a USGA  tiebreaker was necessary to determine the event champion. Each player split first place ($500) and second place ($100) prize money but when the dust settled, Robbie was awarded the champions trophy with his back nine Net 37, one stroke better than Michael.

Robbie added $388 to his winnings total for the year and Michael $399 moving both players up the money board and captured additional points towards the Player of the Year and Member of the Year title to determined at the end of the season.

We'd like to welcome new first time players Tommy Martin from Birmingham, AL and Don Powell from Kingwood, TX to their first event. We hope you enjoyed the competition and look forward to seeing you both in the winner circle in the not too distant future!

Our player base continues to expand in S. Texas with new players participating for the first time. We are nearing that twelve player threshold which pays a $300 Early Entry Bonus to the winner making a $1,000 first place check come closer and closer. Who will be the first $1,000 winner in an ASGT event? Will it be You!?

Once again the ASGT handicapping system showed the effectiveness of preventing unreasonably low winning scores as both our first place finishers came in with one under par net with 71's, right on the number for an average winning score when using the ASGT TourneyCap system.
