Ron Schroeder Can Win Without a Handicap!
Birdies on the Final Two Holes Secure Cypresswood Open Title for this Zero Handicap ASGT Member!

05/01/11 - 12:00 NOON

Taking home a championship seems to nearly always come down to how strong you can finish. That was the case at Cypresswood as a strong finish sealed the Cypresswood Open Championship for Ron Schroeder, (0 Hcp), Montgomery, TX and gave him his first solo event title of the season.

Ron cleared the field by three strokes with his four under par Gross score of 68, the lowest scratch score on the ASGTour to date. Congratulations to Ron one his first solo win and for taking home his $837.00.

Behind Ron, Bob Torgan from Willis, TX and competing as a Super Senior, took home second position clearing third place finisher and first year player Tim Strobel from Kingwood, TX.

Both players were in position to take home the win coming into the next to last hole. Torgan was tied with Schroeder and Strobel was only one stroke back. However, Schroeder was able to post birdies on the final two holes to seal the deal.

The next event in the Houston / S. Texas District will be on May 21st at the Hearthstone Country Club. Make sure and submit your entry by the Early Entry Bonus deadline of May 13th in order to receive up to a $200 cash bonus for winning or your finishing position receiving 100% of the entry fee back.

It's interesting to see how the winning net scores have shaped up so far this season. Handicaps of, 0, 5, 11 & 19 have all finished in the winner's circle.

This pattern of players with radically different skill levels winning events continues to demonstrate the fairness of the ASGTour TourneyCap™ handicapping system and the equal opportunity everyone has to win on the All Star Golf Tour.
